Zoo Baby Monkey, Our Baby Monkey

Uh-Oh Mess

Dylan and Josh were up early watching Backyardigans (while Mommy and Keelyn slept a while longer) before our big trip to the zoo, however, Josh (still tired from a restless night and a 6:00 am wake up call) dozed off for a "minute" and woke to Dylan standing inches from his face saying, "Uh-Oh Mess." Getting his focus, Josh saw the crushed goldfish crackers Dylan had sprinkled all over him. Thankfully we have a dustbuster, a must have investment with a toddler.

Dylan's favorite sayings are "uh-oh x" and "one more x". Our favorite one more story is when Dylan tried to climb in the bath tub a few weeks ago and I said, "Dylan, no, danger" and he replied, "one more danger?" Not sure he quite understood the meaning of danger.

And they said to look for signs...

Dylan will soon be 2 and knowing in the near future (I was thinking summer) we would need to take up potty training (yes, this is a story about potty training), I have been reading a book to prepare. The first chapter of the book is about looking for signs your child is ready, and not that we underestimate potty training but Dylan seems quite ready to take up the challenge. On Monday (and just about every night since), without our prompting, his Daddy took him out of the bath as usual and (odd timing) Dylan said pee-pee, so Josh set him up on the potty and he peed. This was immediately followed by parents cheering and high-fiving! Then, on to diaper and pajamas (PJs as Dylan calls them), once he had diaper on he said poop, so I checked him and nothing and I said to Dylan it must have just been gas to which he responded by grabbing a diaper wipe and wiping on his bottom on the outside of his pajamas, but still. Clear signs in any book, I would say. Now, we are taking up the potty training challenge together and will keep you interested parents in the know, all others we will warn before beginning the story.

Keelyn's First Easter

Keelyn enjoys looking at her pink elephant (Dylan received his famed duck for his first easter) surrounded by her Easter "basket" and frog-themed onesies. Dylan celebrates with snakes and animal crackers.

Uh-Oh Hair

Dylan is the cleanest child in the world -- when he first started finger painting, he said "towel" after every dip into the paint, then, about twenty minutes later with some coaching from Daddy, he finally learned to make a mess. Yay!

Is that my ear?

Dylan shares a rare still moment with Keelyn who appears to pulling her ear forward and turning her eyes as far as they will go to get a glimpse of that elusive ear.

To be sweet or not to be sweet

The set-up -- Dylan and I have been working on holding the baby together as demonstrated in this photo. The story -- a couple of nights ago, all of us (Mommy, Daddy, Dylan, and Keelyn) were in the kids room reading stories and playing puzzles. I was holding and bouncing Keelyn who was almost asleep. Dylan turned to me and put his arms around Keelyn to hold her which I thought was oh so sweet, so I was helping him to support her when he quickly turned us toward Josh and said Daddy, he passed Keelyn on, and jumped up in my lap. Of course, Josh laughed while I looked devastated because he knew exactly what I was thinking and exactly what Dylan was up to from the start. Still, Dylan is very sweet to her.

Something for everyone

Huge thanks to our friend, Jen, for sending this lovely and tasty fruit bouquet from edible arrangements. For Keelyn it was all about the colors (actually, can she in color yet?) while Dylan enjoyed each and every grape all to himself. Mommy reluctantly shared the chocolate covered strawberries with Daddy. All in all, a perfect gift!

Still trying...

...for that one good shot of both kids together, for now, this one (with Dylan giving his best cheese) will do.

Dylan's favorite exclamation for sliding.

Kick, Kick

Dylan says "kick, kick" as he lines up to the ball.
